David came to Classic three years ago from Go-Ahead Northern, having been a motor mechanic before that. "It has always been my ambition to drive coaches," he said, commenting about his time at
Classic, "so working here is like a dream come true!"
Coach work generally entails longer hours and lower pay than bus work, but David said that he accepts this for the
benefit of variety. "You are not going to the same places every day, like a bus." he said. His favourite destination is Paris, and as French is David's second language he can always find
what he is looking for.
Speaking of his friends at Classic, "Simply brilliant! Best bunch I've ever worked with!" he exclaimed, with his infectious smile. His comments about the
Supervisors and Operations staff were equally positive.
A recent job meant that David drove for Newcastle United and had a chance to meet the players and bosses of his favourite team. "Although I support
United, sadly their chances are slim for the cup this year." he added. I wonder, did he have inside information there?
Although a single lad at the moment, David plans to marry next year. It is to
be hoped that he can still find time for his Army Cadet volunteer work and Kick Boxing.
